Fight for Premature Babies

November is Prematurity Awareness Month. One in eight babies is born too soon. Here is my son Jamie's story: About a week before I had my son I went to the ER with severe pain on my right side found out it was my gall-bladder. I started having what I thought was that same pain again. It felt excalty the same. When I couldn’t take it any more I went back to the ER but this time I was in labor and too far dilated for them to try to stop it and too far to be transfered to a different hospital. The doctor had just enough time to but on his gloves and catch Jamie. He was born at 27w1d. He was 2 pounds 5 ounces and 15 inches long. When he was less then an hour old he was air lifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital, about an hour from where we live. Jamie would spend the next 86 days in the NICU. We were luck and he was pretty healthy for his very young age. He went back an forth from C-PAP to nasal canula for 3 weeks. Then he got an infection of some kind and needed more help breathing so he was put on a vent for 2 days and then started the dance between the C-PAP and nasal canula again. He had a grade 1VH (brain bleed), PDA (duct in the heart that should close right after birth) that closed on it’s own before he came home and a heart mumur. He had several infections while in the hospital. He was born April 19, 2007 at 5:06am and came home July 14, 2007. In this picture Jamie was about a month and a half old and weighted 3lbs 10oz! It is my favorite one of him in the NICU.

Holloween and Cherished Wedding update.

My mom made both boys Dracula costumes for Holloween as it was last minute. Next year Jacob isn't allowed shiny costumes!!! It was very hard to carry him, he kept slipping out of my arms! Jamie loved trick or treating he did pretty well. He kept wanting to go back the next day! He was able to fill about half his pumpkin with candy! When I was his age I would have had to empty it a few times though!! Jacob is pulling himself up and starting to cruise. My baby is growing up way too fast for my liking!!!!! Cherished Wedding is almost done!! Just have to finish the dark green and some brown then the backstitching!! I am hoping to have it done by the weekend so I can send it to my mom so she can frame it. I will take a picture when the backstitching is done without names to post so if they come across my blog they don't know who its for!! (I have 3 brothers, 2 of them are married)!! I will also take one with the names to post after Christmas!! My mom is going to take pictures of it after it is framed too! I havent worked on Mickey Mouse lately, I will work on that once I get Cherished wedding done at night and on the weekends when my hubby is home. When he isn't home I'll be doing Winnie the Pooh for Jacob and another Wedding Cake for my mom. Once those are done I'll start back on Flight of Freedom!!!

Update and furbabies

The pictures are not in the order I wanted them but I don't feel like messing with them tonight. Please overlook the mess in these pictures!! Jacob climbing all over Stormy. She is great with both boys and never uses her claws or bites them. They can do anything to her!

This is Stormy. She is 3 years old.
This is Kira. She is 1 1/2 years old.
This is Robbyn. We think she is between 7-9 years old. She showed up at our house after the 4th of July and never left! She was wearing a collar with no tags and no one was looking for her so we kept her!! We also have a tropical fish tank!!!
This is "Cherished Wedding" which I am doing as a Christmas present for my oldest brother and his wife.
The stitching on this is all done just need to finish it! I am doing to do more oraments on it first though!
We are still grieving the loss of Daisy. I told Jamie she is a star now because he doesn't understand heaven. Jacob is crawling!! I wish he would slow down on growing up!!

Daisy 5-24-04 to 10-16-10

Daisy was a great dog! We got her from someone that was going to kill her jusy because she was eating too much food. We got her about a month before I had a stroke. She was with us when we got married and when my dad died. She loved my dad! And now she is with him again. She was with us through all the ups and down over the past six years. She saw too new baby boys come into our life. We have moved several times over the past 6 years and we always made sure when we moved that she could go with us. When we move from here she will be left behind as we are renting but buried her in the backyard. This spring we will plant a tree next to her. I might even get some Daisies and plant them too! The eerie thing is she died 5 years to the day my dad died and at about the same time too. RIP Sweet Girl you will be greatly missed.

FOF update and a finish

I finished the "Wedding Cake" last Thursday! It is my first finish in probably about 2 years if not longer!!!!!! I am so happy that the flag and eagle are done except for backstitching and 2 french knots on Flight of Freedom!!!!!! I can't wait until it gets done!!!!!!! I started working on "Cherished Wedding" for my brother and his wife for Christmas. I also started on Mickey Mouse for my oldest son for Christmas!!! Jamie is fully potty trained! Has had no accidents at all in a month! He is finally accepting his baby brother a little more!! He was jealous of jacob for awhile but guess he finally figured out that Jacob isn't going anywhere!!! They are starting to play with each other. Jacob is sitting up by himself and I think he is trying to crawl when no one is looking!!!!

FOF Update

I took this picture last night with my hubby's phone. I started working on it again on Wednesday. The "wedding cake" is almost done will post a picture of it after the wedding this weekend! My mom likes it so much she wants me to do one for her even though dad passed away almost 5 years ago. She is going to order it and a different wedding one for me to do for my brother and his wife :) I am also going to start a Mickey Mouse for Jamie for Christmas in the next few weeks! Not sure what I am going to do for Jacob yet, maybe a winnie the pooh kit that I have if I can find it! This will be the time that I do one for Jamie!! I started a birth annoncemet for him but never finished it. I found another one I like better so after I do the Christmas gifts I will try to get the stuff I need to make one for each of the boys!! Thinking I am going to do the same one for both so there are no fights!!!

Flight of Freedom

I took this about a week ago. I have done a little more on the wing and some more of the flag too. I am taking a break from working on it and starting one for a wedding. A friend of mine is getting married next month so I thought I would stitch something for them! And it also gives me a break from Flight of Freedom!

Flight of Freedon Update and some other stuff.

I have finally found a few minutes to stitch on Flight of Freedom!!!! My hubby got me 4 new cross stitch books. I can't wait to start some of the patterns in them but I need to get some of the kits I have done. I also need to find the money to get the supplies I need to do them!! I drove down to my Moms a few days ago to pick up some of Jamie's old bigger baby toys for Jacob. Jacob loves the exersaucer!!!! Hubby mowed the lawn the other day and Jamie decided to help him pick up the big clumps of grass!!!!!!!!!

Jacob

My baby boy arrived via c-section March 14th @ 9:34pm! He weighed 7lbs 7oz and was 20ins. It was completely different from having Jamie!!!!! I had to be completely knocked out for the c-section so I didn't get to see Jacob right a way. I got to see and hold him about 2 hours after he was born. Once they brought him in to my room we kept him to we couldn't keep our eyes open anymore!!!!! As soon as we woke up though he was back with us :) I was in tears when we left the hospital! I couldn't believe Jacob was actually going home the same time I was!!!! After having Jamie (my 27 weeker) I was scared to death that I was going to have another preemie but I carried Jacob to 38w5d!!!!!!! Jacob is now almost 3 months old and doing great!!!!!!!!!

Pregnant with baby # 2!!!!!!!!

I found out I was pregnant again the beginning of August! It was a suprise as we were not trying at all!!!! I wanted to wait until Jamie was potty trained before getting pregnant again, but some else had other plans!!!!! (We are working on potty training him now!) In October we foound out we were having another boy!!!!! His name is Jacob Stewart, after my grandpa and dad who have both passed away. He is due March 23rd. I have already carried him longer then I did Jamie! I hope I can keep him "baking"for a few more weeks!
Jamie is doing great!!!!!! He is finally taking with real words and is putting a few words together! I'll try to upload some new pictures of him as he is 2 1/2 and the only pictures up are of him in the NICU!
